Frequently Asked Questions

Murals

  • Every mural starts with a kōrero about your space, your vision, and your audience. From there I develop a concept design for your approval. This is then developed into a full colour digital artwork of what the mural will look like. So you’ll know exactly what you’ll be getting before before a single drop of paint hits the wall. Once the design is signed off, I handle all the painting — typically working efficiently to minimise disruption to your school, office, or site. I can take care of all the health and safety planning and site management, to make the whole process a breeze.

  • It depends on the size and complexity, but most murals take between 3–5 days on-site. Larger or more detailed works may take longer. I'll give you a clear timeline before we begin.

  • Almost every interior and exterior surface can be painted including brick, concrete, plaster, and timber. I'll assess the surface as part of the quoting process.

  • Absolutely. A good surface prep means that your mural will stay looking great for many years. I use my expertise and high quality products to make sure the job’s done right. This can include water blasting and specialty primers.

  • I use professional-grade exterior paints, so murals are built to last. Murals typically last 10+ years, sometimes up to 20 years. Indoor murals can last even longer as they aren’t as exposed to the elements.

  • Yes, I love involving young people in the process. It creates a sense of ownership and pride in the finished work, as well as great learning opportunities. This could include the students being involved in a facilitated brainstorming and inspiration session, and potentially helping with some of the painting. I’m always happy to discuss options.
